82 Summits by Ueli Steck and Michi Wohlleben Complete!

Just a short update to say that yesterday on the 12th of August Ueli Steck and Michi Wohlleben popped the champagne cork on the completion of climbing all 82 European peaks above 4000m all on human power. The two haven't given an official wrap up just yet as I'm sure they are just having a good sleep in. Then maybe some brunch. Followed by a late lunch. Maybe an early dinner. Then they'll probably be back in bed by 7 o'clock. But when they do we'll give some further updates.  In the mean time check out the 82Summits Facebook page here for some celebratory videos and pictures! But by my humble calculations, if the pair began their quest on the 9th of June and finished up by the 12th of August, they finished well under the aim of 80 days.

The following photo is a screen shot from Suunto's Movescount website and although you have to zoom in a little further to get the full detail, it gives some kind of scale to the whole adventure that was covered on foot, bike or paraglider. Stats like 117,489 vertical meters of ascent make any other season of climbing look as insignificant as a pee in the Pacific Ocean.
