Training for a hard send? This is the board! The design of the board is well thought out, the low friction of the board means your fingers are working harder and is forgiving on the skin. And the training app is brutal but awesome!
The hot forged front points of the Grivel G14 not only bite well on hard ice and rock, but they've withstood a heap of abuse. They climb hard pitches better than anything else and still handle general easy alpine plodding fine too.
This thing is hands down the best sleeping mat I can find for car camping style trips. Better than any swag and probably better than my mattress at home. I did end up spending a good few months on it while moving house.
For the price this was really an easy choice when looking for a sport or trad climbing harness. The Endo-Frame spreads the weight really well and doesn't collapse over time. Light enough for hard sends, tough enough to beat up.
The Sterling Chain Reactor is the best thing if you want an adjustable personal anchor that is light. Every loop is rated for use as a PAS unlike a daisy chain which no one should be using as an anchor. You can't really stuff up a Chain Reactor
La Sportiva Akasha trail running shoes feel great straight out of the box! The flex and structure built in is great. I found the sole to be more durable than most trail running shoes so it's great just as a general walking shoe as well - day hikes, walking into crags etc.
There's nothing worse than having nothing to put your back against after a long day hiking. It also doubles as a durable mat cover making it really versatile. Keep the mat inside when you pack it up makes for a easy set-up. Totally worth the little extra weight.
These are the perfect combination of the Sportiva Solution and the Python. With a slightly squarer toebox and snugger heel they offer a little more sensitivity than the Solution but still give enough support for plenty of power.
With a little understanding this is truely one of the most versatile and useful belay devices. It bridges the gap between tubulers and auto devices like GriGri's. It is light enough for alpine use and the "assisted breaking" is amazing.
My absolute pick! Light, easy to set up, and I've had it seven years and is going strong! As-far-as lightweight tents go this thing still delivers good durability. It's also quick to set up / pack down and double doors is always a good option for general hiking tents.
