Description
Ice Screws can be hard to trust at the best of times, so you may as well place your trust in a screw with the greatest holding power. Grivel ice screws use reverse thread where the angle of the thread faces away from the direction of pull. Although this seams counterintuitive at first, it has been shown both by independent testing and Grivel to spread more load onto a greater surface area of ice and therefore giving it greater holding power (see pictures for more details).
Couple this with a generous handle and clipping plate that are easier to use with gloves and you have a great piece of pro that you can spend less time fumbling with and more time climbing. Supplied with a protection cap for travel or approach and attaches to the handle so you don't loose it, but it also makes the handle even bigger and easier to handle.
