Description

High altitude climbing and mountaineering isn't what it used to be - It is lighter and warmer. We're definitely not going to complain about it though.

La Sportiva have once again evolved the mountaineering boot world with the introduction of the La Sportiva G2 SM. Developed in collaboration with Simone Moro, he wanted the lightest possible boot to achieve winter ascents of 8000m peaks. Of course he is a professional climber and moves faster than anyone, but where the Sportiva G2 SM hits the mark for all us "normal" climbers is that 6000m 7000m+ mark. The other place where this boot is absolutely going to excel is in winter ascents of lower mountains or spending long periods in particularly cold environments.

Because it is a double boot, it is easy to manage warmth and moisture buildup when stuck in a cold tent or bivvy over many days (If you need more info on the benefits of double boots over single click HERE). Besides that it boasts exclusive technology to give maximum warmth with minimal bulk. It also features BOA lacing which, if you've ever tried to put alpine boots on with frozen fingers in a tent vestibule you are going to be the first in line to get a pair of these! Apart from just the ease of putting them on, the BOA lacing means that you'll never hesitate to tweak the fit of your boots throughout the days climbing. Normally many people just grin-and-bare a sloppy heel or tight toes for hours because adjusting the boots tension is just too hard... not anymore.

What La Sportiva Have to Say

Developed in collaboration with the Italian alpinist Simone Moro known for his winter ascents, Gashebrum 2 is an ultra-thermal, dual layer shoe for extreme mountaineering and for prolonged exposure to low temperatures.
The shoe provides maximum water resistance thanks to the lining used for the gaiter, the no wicking materials and the inner insulation package. The Cordura® fabric guarantees abrasion resistance. The bootie is made using quick dry materials and is therefore ideal for prolonged use in the mountains. Volumes and weight are kept at a minimum thanks to the Honeycomb Tech midsole in carbon fibre and the compact, high performance construction in true La Sportiva style. The inner shell uses the exclusive quick lacing BOA® Fit System for maximum easy and a more precise fit. G2 represents the ideal completion of the La Sportiva high mountain line with its look deriving from the famous Olympus and Batura models. It is the ideal choice for mountaineering at 6000 and 7000 metres.
