Salomon Quest Prime GTX Gear Review - By Tom

Salomon Quest Prime GTX Gear Review

I’ve used a pair of Salomon Quest Prime hiking boots regularly for two years now, and they’ve covered my needs across Australia. I’ve generally found them to be a great all-round durable and lightweight hiking boot. The absorbent and durable shell is great for rocky mountain walks as well as damper walks in the wet season, and the hyper grippy and protective sole is versatile and reliable.

PROS

  • CONTAGRIP SOLE – These boots have kept my feet on the ground through all kinds of slippery and rocky terrain. They have also helped me hike across quite a bit of sand in my time.
  • DURABILITY – My pair are weather-worn, scuffed up, and have seen adventure, but not once have I had to question whether they will make it through my next trip. These boots have a sturdy frame but balance that with a lightweight feel, and the Gore-Tex lining is reliable.
  • BOOT HEIGHT – The mid cut of these boots is hyper functional, with the slightly lower back that keeps your foot flexible.

CONS

  • LACES – While I’ve always been able to rely on these hiking boots, I have been through one pair of laces. It’s always good practice to take a spare pair of laces on a trip, but since I switched over, I’ve had to be more conscious of how I treat my laces and where they are tucked.

THE VERDICT

An awesome pair of boots that I’ve never had to doubt. The durability of these boots is impressive, and have always kept me dry and gripped to the ground. Would recommend this to people who need a wider fitting boot, or someone looking for a lightweight boot.
