Ben Sanford
Ben Sanford is a 20 year old climber and adventure photographer based in the Blue Mountains NSW. He's one of our industry's most promising up and coming photographers and we are super excited to get him on board! By the age of 20 he'd already climbed the SW Ridge of Mount Aspiring and the West Ridge of Malte Brun in good style amongst other New Zealand alpine routes. On top of this he also very active in the Blue Mountains climbing and canyoning scenes and has captured some of Australia's best climbers in action and some of the area's most stunning canyons in all their glory.
Ben's reputation as an adventure photographer has already got a strong foundation with features in National Geographic Adventure, Rock and Ice, Climber Magazine, Vertical Life, The Climber and photography publications D-Photo and Capture magazines. On top of this he has been awarded the following:
- New Zealand Geographic Young Photographer Of The Year 2017
- Australia’s Top Emerging Photographer 2017 – Sport Category (Capture Mag)
- Youth Champion for the NZAC Photographic Competition 2017 + Two Honours
What we at Mountain Equipment love about Ben is that, although he'll tell you he's a photographer, even without that his alpine climbing and rock climbing is super solid as is his canyoning and general outdoor skills. We're excited to see what the next few years holds for this guy.
