The Rab Expedition 8000 Jacket is specifically designed for high altitude climbing and polar expeditions. It us suitable for mountains from around 6500m right up to Everest. It is also suitable for expeditions to the arctic regions throughout the seasons. 

The Expedition 8000 Down jacket features boxed wall construction throughout with a Pertex® Quantum Pro outer fabric. Inside you will find 526 grams of the highest quality European goose down.

  • Where is it made?

    Hello, 

    Thanks so much for your question. So the Pertex Quantum Pro fabric itself as well as the construction of the jacket shell is made in the Rab factory in China. All the down work, stuffing and sealing is done in Derbyshire UK.

  • hi is waterproof or water-resistant

    Hello, 

    This Rab Expedition 8000 Jacket is water-resistant but NOT waterproof. It uses Pertex Quantum Pro fabric which is water and weather resistant and is not all seam sealed. The reason they do this is that the jacket is designed to be used below freezing so the chances of liquid water on it is low. Also having this fabric means it can pass more water vapour or moisture out (ie. breathes better) than a fully waterproof membrane. So it keeps you and the insulation dryer and therefore warmer than if you were a little damper from condensation. Not seam sealing also reduces a lot of weight on a jacket like this. It still maintains it's windproofness via the boxwall construction and seam style however.
