Description

Rock Climbing in the Olympic Games means different things to different climbers, but what it does mean to ALL climbers is better climbing products! Companies want the world's best climbers to be using their gear when they win Olympic gold, so all of a sudden R&D departments get the green light to design the absolute best products they can with little restriction.

Enter the La Sportiva Theory Climbing Shoe...

The Theory is La Sportiva's most advanced rock climbing shoe and is their answer to the world of modern competition climbing. There is so much going on in this shoe but we'll try and distil it down to it's main points.

Adaptable - in the past performance climbing shoes have always focused on certain types of holds; technical smearing, firm edging, steep, slab etc. But now the Sportiva Theory contains so much structural development that it promises to be the most adaptable performance climbing shoe you've ever worn. One hallmark of modern comp climbing is large volumes that you slap your feet onto, this requires mid foot flexibility. This shoe does that better than any other but how the Theory advances climbing shoe design is that this is not at the detriment to toe point power for launching off crimps as well. Weather it's vertical or overhung, edging power or technical smearing, large volume slapping, toe hooking or heel hooking - The Sportiva Theory is the most adaptable climbing shoe around

Sensitive - This word is thrown around a lot in climbing shoe descriptions and for good reason; when you're on insecure holds you want to feel what your fingers and toes are holding onto to make sure you're utilising everything out of that hold. Climbing competitions are won and lost by feet slipping off holds. The Sportiva Theory gives so much feeling and sensitivity but still keeping the structure needed for support.

Toe & Heel Hooking - These certainly are not an after thought with the La Sportiva Theory. Modern comp climb setters love throwing in technical toe and heel hooks. The Theory embraces this and doesn't sit back and let the cheap rubber cover the top and the back of the shoe. There's super sticky rubber and structure everywhere you need it to make sure you can get through any technical foot work.

La Sportiva Theory Climbing Shoe Features

  • Coming from the study of the prehensile abilities of gorillas and the sensitivity of feline fingertips (yes apparently this is true!), this shoe releases maximum power and agility while maintaining maximum sensitivity on each type of hold
  • The Vibram® XS-Grip2 sole with differentiated thickness at the toe favours the prehensity of the holds
  • The overall structure of the shoe facilitates volume compression on modern indoor routes and adherence on traverses thanks to the high adaptability
  • A new construction which uses the exclusive D-Tech™ (Dynamic Technology): the sole wraps the shoe sideways for a total absence of side edges, favouring dynamic support and spreadability on the latest indoor holds
  • The rubber toe cap covers 90% of the front surface of the uppers to favour toe hooks while maintaining the adaptability for different types of foot shapes
