The Sterling Velocity XEROS 9.8mm is the flagship "all-round" performance climbing rope that gives a soft catch. If you're a sport climber who will be taking a few falls or a trad climber who needs to reduce the load on gear then this is for you. The 9.8mm diameter gives great durability while still maintaining a great low weight for general climbing. 

This 60m length is the industry standard for climbing ropes. Most (but not all) single pitch climbing routes out there have pitches of 30m or less so a 60m rope means you can easily clip the anchors and lower to the ground. Also "generally" speaking a lot of rappels into climbs are set up for a 60m rope to be folded over and pulled through.
